I worked with the brilliant marketing team at Napier University on a project for their student well-being department. The idea was to create still life photographs of small model characters made from materials like polymer clay and yarn. Each character represented an issue that students might face during their studies and early adult lives, such as finances, depression, social inclusion, anxiety or disability.
It was such a fun shoot and a reminder of how powerful hand crafted imagery can be. In a time when AI imagery is everywhere, Napier made a deliberate choice to use real model making and genuine craft to illustrate their message. The tangible nature of the work brought authenticity, and the care and effort behind the photography and model making became part of the message itself.
